Professional Knowledge: Connection between EDUEYP5, EDUEYP6, and PPP EYP3
The coursework in EDUEYP5 and EDUEYP6 supported my professional knowledge during PPP EYP3 by helping me understand how theory can be applied in real classroom practice. Through these courses, I developed a deeper understanding of lesson planning, child-centred learning, assessment, differentiation, and the importance of creating meaningful learning experiences for young children. During my placement, I was able to transfer this knowledge into practice by planning lessons with clear learning outcomes, suitable teaching strategies, and assessment opportunities that matched students’ learning needs.
One important connection was the use of active and interactive learning. In my PPP EYP3 lessons, I designed activities that encouraged students to participate, discuss, solve problems, and apply their understanding. For example, in the mathematics lesson about centimetres and metres, I used real-life examples, visual resources, group tasks, and an exit ticket to help students understand the relationship between both units. This reflected what I learned in my coursework about making learning meaningful and developmentally appropriate.
EDUEYP5 and EDUEYP6 also helped me understand the importance of differentiation and assessment for learning. During the placement, I adapted tasks according to students’ abilities and used questioning, observation, and student work to check understanding. In addition, I integrated technology and UAE cultural contexts to increase engagement and connect learning to students’ lives. Overall, PPP EYP3 allowed me to apply my coursework knowledge in a real classroom and strengthened my confidence as an effective professional.
